Gear

Here is a complete collection of all the photography gear and post-processing software I use. Everything on these lists I’ve acquired over a long time. Photography is a field that can get expensive quickly, so it’s prudent to plan out and patiently get the things you want or need.

I’m a firm believer that it’s not all about the gear, but instead your perspective and creative initiative that produces the best results. For example, I started my journey using my father’s older DSLR Nikon that’s +15 years old.

Hopefully this list gives you a general idea of the kind of equipment I use to make my photography experience efficient and inspires your own gear choices!

Camera Gear

  • Sony A7R III

My main camera body for images and video. I love the sensor technology Sony has integrated, which supports up to 42.4 MP images and 4K HDR video.

  • 24-105mm f4 G Master

My main and favorite lens. It’s sharp, has a versatile zoom range, and produces some great results. I use this lens for literally everything.

  • 150-600mm f5-6.3 Sigma

My telephoto lens. This bad larry has an epic zoom range, sharpness quality, and image stabilization.

  • Mavic Air 2

My drone of choice. I found the size of this drone to be really convenient for travel. Not to mention it packs a fantastic sensor supporting 48 MP images.

  • GoPro Hero 11 Black

Fantastic little thing, this GoPro takes 27 MP photos - even in RAW! I’ve mostly used this while scuba diving.

  • Minolta SR-7

Made in 1962, this film camera was revolutionary despite it’s appearance. Though an older camera, it still creates great images that give you that classic film look.

Camera Accessories

  • Peak Design Travel Tripod - CF

Sturdy and lightweight tripod with a carbon-fiber finish. This tripod’s unique design allows for not just camera attachments but smartphone mounting as well as a hook to hang your bag from.

  • PolarPro VND Peter McKinnon Edition II Filters

Signature VND lenses, 2-5 and 6-9 stop variations. Great for run-n-gun photography and bright conditions.

  • PolarPro VND Mavic Air 2 Filters

VND lenses, 2-5 and 6-9 stop variations for my Mavic drone. Very useful filters for flying high in the sky on sunny days.

  • Hoya 77mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II (+1, +2, and +4)

A close-up filter, or diopter, is a magnifier that optically decreases the focal length of a camera lens placed behind it. I use the +4 while using the underwater housing with dome port.

  • Rode VideoMicro

Small, easy-to-handle, high quality microphone I use for making videos and reels.

  • Peak Design Shell Cover

Protection from water, snow, dust, and abrasion. I like a clean sensor…and camera.

Waterproof and crushproof case I keep all my SD cards and camera batteries in.

  • Hard Case for SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD

A protective travel case for the SSD I keep all my media on.

  • Atomcube RX7

This thing is awesome. This pocket LED (with diffuser) is quite powerful, generating 18 watts of ultra-bright and soft-light colors - 2500~8500K. Great for setting the tone while composing shoots.

  • PGYTECH Drone Propeller Holder

Convenience, really. A light-weight elastic attachment for holding my drone’s propellers to its body. I find this useful so I don’t have to constantly remove and replace the props while I pack.

  • Sony 64 GB UHS-II SDXC

The main SD type I use with my camera. Incredible fast transfer rate so no time is wasted writing photos to memory when I want to switch camera funtions.

  • SanDisk 256GB Ultra SDXC

Secondary SD type I use with my camera. Since my camera takes larger images, an SD card with deep storage is preferred.

  • Sony MRW-S1 High Speed UHS-II USB 3.0 SDXC Reader

A dedicated USB SDXC reader for the Sony UHS-II card.

  • Anker 2-in-1 SD Card Reader

2-in-1 SD card reader I use for exporting media to my laptop or SSD.

  • SanDisk 128GB Extreme MicroSD

Main brand of Micro SD I use for the drone.

  • Sony NPFZ100 Rechargeable Battery

Extra batteries! I have three total.

Carry

  • Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20L

My everyday, multi-purpose camera bag. This bag can be reorganized to carry whatever gear you have. I take this bag with me everywhere.

  • Nomatic Navigator Rain Cover

Medium size rain cover for my camera bag. Like my camera, I like a clean bag.

  • Peak Design Capture Camera Clip

Genius. This clip is great for quick camera access while on the go. It attaches to the backpack strap so the camera can be mounted against your chest.

  • Peak Design Cuff

Always on my camera when out shooting. This wrist strap is very reliable and strong enough that you won’t ever have to worry about dropping your camera.

  • Mavic Air 2 Battery Protection Kit

LiPo Battery and Fireproof safe travel cases for drone batteries. Extra measure of safety when traveling by plane.

Studio & Software

  • SanDisk Extreme SSD 1, 2TB

Small but deep storage I keep all my media on.

  • Adobe Lightroom

What I use for all image editing and photo organization.

  • Adobe Photoshop

What I use for object removal, image touchups, and canvasing.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro

What I use for video editing and creating Instagram Reels.

Underwater Gear

  • GoPro Protective Housing

Can’t forget the GoPro, this protective housing is rated for 60m (196ft) underwater depth.

  • Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing

A full featured and durable waterproof housing for my Sony camera. DL meaning dry-lock, this housing is rated for 200’ depth.

  • Ikelite DL 8-inch Dome Port

An 8” diameter dome made of optical grade acrylic. This port specifically fits over my 24-105mm lens.

  • Ikelite DL 50mm Port Extension

Extends a DL system dome or flat port by approximately 50mm. This port extension is needed to fit my zoom lens.

  • Ikelite DL 20mm Port Extension

Extends a DL system dome or flat port by approximately 20mm. Also needed to fit my zoom lens in the housing.

  • Ikelite Zoom / Focus Gear

A zoom/focus gear attachment that will allow me to zoom the lens inside the housing - pretty sick.

  • Ikelite Right Hand Quick Release Handle with Extension

A second handle for the underwater housing. It’s much easier to handle the housing with both hands rather than one.

  • Ikelite Trigger Extension v2

Extends the lever away from the housing and closer to a right-hand handle. Extra layer of convenience.

  • Ikelite Sync Cord - Two SEA&SEA Strobes

Two-to-one sync cable from the Ikelite housing to two SEA&SEA strobes.

  • Ikelite 1" Ball Mount

This ball mount is connected to the top of the housing handles and can have more extension arms connected to it for strobes or other items.

  • Ikelite Flex Mount Kit for GoPro

This mount kit is super lightweight, flexible, and includes everything you need to attach your GoPro to an Ikelite DSLR top mount or any 3/4-inch flex mount. This will let me record while I capture photos.

  • Ikelite Vacuum Pump with Gauge

A vacuum leak detection system allows you to check for leaks after assembling your housing and prior to entering the water. This can make the difference between a successful dive and a stressful situation.

  • Ultralight Double Ball Arm (5-8")

Light and easy to handle arm for connecting underwater strobes to the camera housing.

  • Ultralight AC-CSF Modified Ball Clamp with T-Knob

Super easy to use clamp to hold arm sections, strobes, or the ball mount from the housing itself, together.

  • SEA&SEA YS-110 DS-TTL Strobe

A pair of great strobes I was fortunate enough to acquire through donation. Unfortunately, this strobe model has been discontinued.

  • SEA&SEA Arm 8 Strobe Head Adapter

A small ball mount to fit the SEA&SEA strobes I use, and connect them to the rest of the rig.

  • Stix Underwater Buoyancy Float Kit

Non-compressible floats (foam) that add positive buoyancy to the otherwise heavy underwater rig, attaching to the arm sections. This is to help keep the rig neutrally buoyant instead of pulling you up or down.
